LEAF Project

Latah Environmental Agricultural & Fisheries Heritage Project

After years of discussions surrounding the "Pilcher Property", Spokane city officials, Friends of the Bluff, and several other conservationists gathered at Vinegar Flats to discuss its future in late October. The 48-acre farmland is located between State Route 195 and the bottom of the bluff.

Preserving this land would provide a great access point to the lower bluff trails and allow the riparian habitat along Hangman Creek to be restored. The farmland could also be used for urban agriculture, providing fresh organic food and agricultural education to the community.
