HELP SAVE THE THORPE PROPERTY
The decision regarding the fate of the Thorpe Rd/Dept of Natural Resources (DNR) natural 192-acre parcel located just west of the I-195/Thorpe Rd railway tunnels is currently pending. A developer, Blue Fern Development has offered $7M to purchase the land from DNR with their goal of building 1000+ additional homes next to their Victory Heights 1000+ housing development. Many have voiced serious concerns about resident safety, access, evacuation, wildfire risk, and the permanent loss of a precious natural area.
Spokane Parks, Friends of the Bluff, CALV, Spokane Mountaineers, Evergreen East, Sierra Club, INLC, Latah-Hangman & Windsor-Thorpe Neighborhood Councils, and the Spokane Tribe have requested that DNR Trust Land Transfer it to the city or Tribal sale for conservation, but WE NEED YOUR HELP!
ACTION STEP 1: EMAIL LOCAL GOVERNMENT
We need YOUR public comment NOW. Even a simple
"My name is _____. I am a resident of ____ and I strongly support DNR acting to prioritize preserving this precious natural area instead of promoting the sale of this parcel for another high-density development." is sufficient. The more letters we can send to this email list of decision-makers...the better.

ACTION STEP 2: ATTEND PUBLIC HEARING ON DEC 4
DNR will hold a public hearing to share information and receive information and testimony from the public on December 4, 2024 at 6:15 PM in the Spokane Central Library, 906 W. Main Avenue, Spokane, WA 99201. We will be voicing our opposition to the sale, so the more supporters we have present, the more powerful our message will be.
